Yes, wildfire smoke is bad (just like living near a coal power plant). We could do stuff to fix these problems, but God forbid anyone be mildly inconvenienced or have to slightly change the way they live.
As for COVID, yes, it is still going around. But we have vaccines now. If you feel sick, stay home or wear a mask when you go out. And if you want to wear a mask when you go out normally and are not sick, then that is fine too (but pretty unnecessary for most people).
