I would agree that the right headphones for your ears and genre could sound better than speakers in the sub $200 price range, though I have a few head-amps as the good ones often require more voltage or current than you’re going to get from a PC as a source, but on the other hand, the topic drifted into let’s-power-this-from-USB.
Once you make that leap, you need to differentiate, whether the built in amp for the speakers is limited by 5V/1A (if not only 500mA), or whether it’s leveraging USB-C to get a lot more power, particularly voltage to the amp. USB-C can provide plenty of juice for near-field listening on a 2.0 setup, though I know a lot less about the USB-C capabilities of whatever motherboard the OP happens to have, since the desire was minimizing cables which means it’d be the one from the source PC, not a separate USB-C power bank to power the amp-integrated speakers.
