What songs (hopefully major) do you remember where you were when you first heard them?

Nothing really stands out. I could infer I heard whatever at home because that’s where I heard most of my music, but no particular memories.

I’ll post some notable tunes that really grabbed me for one reason or the other.

Bob Dylan – Mr Tambourine Man. I was initially familiar with The Byrds version. Dylan’s was NOT that. After the initial ‘WTF am I listening to’ it wormed it’s way into my consciousness, and along with Rolling Stone turned Dylan into my #1 favorite singer.

Mazzy Star – Halah. I heard it on a college station and was immediately captivated by Hope’s voice. Problem was I had no idea who it was, or what the band was called. Took a couple years to track that down. Pre internet, you really had to put effort into music.

Miles Davis – Générique Bought a Columbia ‘greatest hits’ type set, and really dug the noire vibe of that one, and I also especially liked the cool jazz tracks. I bought the set just find out what Davis was about, and he became one of my top favorite musicians.

Glenn Miller – In The Mood. No idea where I heard that, and when I heard it, I had no idea who was playing. Took awhile to figure it out, and I got into big band and swing big time.
