Normal people around the world are feeling the crush of an affordability crisis.
This has led to an appetite for change that populist right wing parties have weaponized against immigrants as the scapegoat.
But anyone still capable of critical thinking, would realize that doesn’t make sense. You aren’t sufferings economically because an immigrant is taking a minimum wage job, you probably don’t want anyway.
You are suffering because your rent is being squeezed, by not just a regular landlord, but a corporate landlord that bought a large percentage of housing in your area, and has increased pricing at all the units so you have no choice but to pay endlessly more or be homeless, or because everything becomes more expensive, because greedy Oligarchs are siphoning “rent” out of every transaction in your life.
In that context, I just stumbled on the Green Party ad in the UK. I have the feeling this guy would not have rolled out the red carpet for Trump, like Starmer did.
This crisis is worldwide, and the fascist Oligarchs like Elon Musk are working in every country attempting to scapegoat immigrants to distract people from the real culprits, which are people like Musk.
No where have they have been more successful than in the USA, where Musk spent quarter billion dollars, to elect Trump, then was rewarded with an unelected position he used to cut humanitarian aide (expected to cause millions of deaths). Trump is giving trillions in tax cuts to the rich as another reward.
Musk is also Promoting the AfD in Germany. Unite the Kingdom in UK. In fact he’s active boosting the far right around the globe. The two consistent planks of his approach are scapegoating immigrants, and promoting deregulation (that allows ever more wealth to be concentrated in oligarch hands).
He will also pepper in whatever message is convenient local politics. Musk is an atheist, but he will regularly promote Christianity as a tool to further denigrate immigrants.
We need to show people the enemy is NOT the poor immigrant working for minimum wage or less. It’s the absolute calculated evil of the Oligarchs, that are manipulating them into giving ever more of their income to the 1%, while they are distracted by a false scapegoat.
