I am old enough to remember the gas rationing in the 70s. Rationing was based on the odd/even of your license plate and often capped at a 10-gallon purchase limit if the station had gas at all.
I was a road warrior at the time, and my local station took care of me, but still it was a struggle. I refused to take a service call (I serviced computer systems) unless I had enough gas for a round trip.
I saw a farmer that called his supplier for a delivery of off-road diesel for his tractors. He was told he could only get 100 gallons. One of his tractors holds 90 gallons and will only last about 14 hours of work.
I heat with oil, not the best option, but there’s no NG in the area. I have a 550-gallon tank, and that will last me a winter unless the weather gets really nuts. I ordered a fill-up just to top off the tank, so I should be OK until the fall of 2027.
